The Sir John Barrow Monument
The Sir John Barrow Monument is Ulverston’s most recognisable landmark. It was built in 1850 on Hoad Hill which stands 430ft high, as a memorial to Sir John Barrow. The monument has outstanding views of Morcambe Bay, Ulverston and the Pennines beyond.

Ford park is owned by a local community group supported by volunteers who have formed a charitable trust to rescue this last large open space in Ulverston. Right through the year there are many events taking place to keep all the family happy, including Gig in the Garden, outside theatre and crafts sessions.

The Manjushri Buddhist Centre has raised almost £1,000,000 and invested thousands of hours of voluntary labour to eradicate dry rot, and bring Conishead Priory back to its former glory. The priory also has well maintained grounds that lead right on to Morcambe Bay and for those who simply what to sit back and enjoy the view the priory has a tea room.
